Counselling in Cape Town's northern suburbs

Most people put off making the call for a long time. When they finally do, the next question is a practical one: is there someone near enough that I'll actually keep going?

Restoring Wholeness is based in Edgemead and sees people from across the northern suburbs, in person or online.

The suburbs we see people from

Edgemead, Bothasig, Monte Vista, Goodwood, Plattekloof, Panorama, Welgemoed, Parow, Bellville, Durbanville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Table View, Milnerton and Century City.

If you're a little further out, online sessions work just as well and save you the drive.

    What people bring

    • Anxiety, worry and feeling constantly on edge
    • Relationship and marriage difficulties
    • Grief, loss and the changes that follow
    • Low mood and feeling stuck in the same pattern
    • Pornography, sexual behaviour and shame
    • Work stress, burnout and everything feeling like too much
    • Wanting to grow, not because anything is wrong

    Ways we can work

Individual counselling — one-to-one sessions at your own pace.

Couples counselling — for partners who want to understand what keeps happening between them.

Family counselling — when the difficulty sits between people rather than inside one person.

Online counselling — the same session by video, anywhere in South Africa.

    In Afrikaans, if that's easier

Sessions are available in Afrikaans. For many people in the northern suburbs it is simply easier to say the hard things in their first language, and there is no need to translate yourself as you go.

    Who you'd be sitting with

Pierre West is a Specialist Wellness Counsellor registered with the ASCHP, working from Edgemead with people across the northern suburbs and online. His approach is practical and unhurried: making sense of what is happening, and working out what might actually help.

    Getting here

The practice is in Edgemead, a few minutes off the N1 and the M5, with off-street parking and no shared waiting room. Most people in the northern suburbs reach it in under twenty minutes. You get directions when your session is confirmed.

    Questions people ask

People come from across the northern suburbs — Edgemead, Bothasig, Monte Vista, Goodwood, Plattekloof, Panorama, Parow, Bellville, Durbanville and the surrounding areas — and online clients from all over South Africa.
